Youth Program Assistant

|Description:||Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Programs, the Youth Program Assistant provides direct service to youth programs and responsible for developing age appropriate curriculum related to academics and social development. The Youth Program Assistant will assist the director by expanding the current QOP program|
|Duties:|| Responsible to assist with the recruitment of students to maximize the expected program outcomes set by the organization.|
Plans and implements direct service to a class of students. Direct service hours include activities focused on social development, service learning and academic curriculum. Direct service will include evening work and some weekends.
Provide educational instruments that allow participants to explore and develop shared understanding of diversity concepts.
Through collaboration with external youth programs provide prevention services including, but not limited to, drug, alcohol and tobacco; violence; and pregnancy prevention education.
In partnership with the Director of Youth Programs, develop and sustain a parent support committee with the purpose of supporting and encourage program students.
Provide classroom management by supervising youth at all times during program times and ensures proper monitoring of students while participating in programming. This includes while at any YWCA site, or on outings.
Responsible for assisting with the collecting, monitoring, reporting and submitting all program outcomes to Director of Programs and Services in a timely manner.
Maintains a professional relationship with the youth and acts as a positive role model at all times.
Network with service providers in the community to increase resources to all, as well as, increase visibility of all YWCAs programs.
Provides referral services to youth and families as needed.
Ensures all programs adhere to the YWCA of York mission, core values, policies and funding guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
|Qualifications:||Minimum of high school diploma, an associates degree preferred from an accredited college or university is preferred. Experience working with youth. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.|
Excellent organizational skills.
Familiarity with the community and resources for families.
Excellent ability to exercise good judgment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet usage.
Must have a valid PA drivers license and access to own vehicle and auto insurance.
Proven ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socioeconomic background.
