Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Description:The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is accountable for measurably increasing awareness of the YWCA of York with general public and target audiences; planning and implementation of media relations, community relations, special promotions and events; and negotiating media, advertising and other collaborative partnerships. He/she will develop and execute short- and long-term internal and external marketing strategies that support the organization’s vision and culture
Duties:Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversee/manage media/public relations, website, graphics, and creative materials.
• Manage the design and revision of organization materials such as brochures, annual reports, flyers and newsletter, etc. and advertising materials such as print ads, etc.
• Create and maintain publications calendar.
• Develop positive, ongoing relationships with media outlets; act as primary interface between the YWCA and media.
• Network with other agencies to identify collaborative opportunities.
• Work with program directors to develop and implement targeted advertising/marketing campaigns.
• Create, deliver, and monitor email campaigns, including newsletters and promotions for fundraising events.
• Identify stories to promote the YWCA and its programs and events.
• Maintain website and social media sites: manage the timely production and posting of updated content.
• Assist Directors in using analytics software (Google Analytics and Constant Contact) to understand YWCA’s user online experience and effectiveness of email communications.
• Identify stories to promote the YWCA and its programs and events.
• Propose, develop, implement, and document market research and survey opportunities.
• Organize photo shoots and maintain the YWCA’s photo and design archive.
• Create and maintain central location for all approved YWCA documents, such as logos, photos, letterhead, etc.
• Research and place ads.
• Develop and maintain press lists and press archives.
• Draft and distribute press releases and assemble press packets.
• Oversees the process of screening newspapers, magazines, and electronic media; prepares and circulates clippings to others on staff; organizes and assembles publicity reports.
• Lead the YWCA marketing strategy, including marketing and public relations efforts.
• Monitor and engage in social media channels.
• Propose and develop sponsorships, marketing partners, and strategic alliances; coordinate fostering these ideas with Chief Development Officer.
• Produce quarterly newsletter and other publications as assigned.
• Prepare and make presentations, including United Way, to increase community awareness of YWCA services.
• Prepare briefing material for donor and prospective major donor visits for Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, and representatives of the YWCA.
• Oversee the marketing, purchasing, and evaluation of YWCA merchandise.
• Demonstrate willingness to perform whatever duties are necessary in the development and maintenance of the organization.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in design and marketing.

• Excellent computer skills including Internet usage, databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point.

• Knowledge of social service system and community needs preferred.
